JOB SUMMARY
We are a small, growing company expanding our manufacturing operations in the Charlotte, NC area, and we're looking for an HR Manager to help us build the people foundation for that growth. The Human Resources Manager is responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of human resources plans and programs, including recruitment, employee relations, compliance, compensation, benefits, and payroll. This role develops and administers HR plans and procedures relating to company personnel, plans, organizes, and controls the day-to-day activities of the HR department, and partners with leadership on HR department goals, objectives, and systems.
 
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Human Resources
  • Manages the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, transfers, and other employee status changes.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for employee questions and workplace concerns, escalating complex issues as appropriate.
  • Leads recruitment efforts for all open positions, including drafting and placing external job postings, screening candidates, and coordinating interviews.
  • Partners with staffing agencies and contract recruiters to support high-volume hourly/production hiring as manufacturing operations scale.
  • Conducts new employee orientations and supports a smooth onboarding experience.
  • Conducts exit interviews and tracks turnover trends to inform retention strategies.
  • Develops, revises, and administers HR policies and procedures; maintains and updates the employee handbook.
  • Maintains accurate employee records and personnel files, ensuring compliance with recordkeeping requirements.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; maintains affirmative action programs where applicable.
  • Administers employee benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and vendor coordination.
  • Creates and maintains formal job descriptions for all positions, ensuring accuracy for compliance and compensation purposes.
  • Conducts annual salary surveys and benchmarks compensation against the local and industry market.
  • Develops, analyzes, and manages the company's compensation program and salary budget.
  • Develops and administers the company's performance evaluation program.
  • Partners with leadership on workforce planning and organizational structure.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to drive continual improvement in HR department efficiency.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Payroll & Reporting
  • Processes payroll accurately and on time using ADP and Paycircle
  • Ensures accurate timekeeping, deductions, and payroll records.
  • Reconciles payroll data and resolves discrepancies with employees and vendors.
  • Runs regular HR and operational reports for leadership review.
  • Supports year-end payroll processes, including W-2 coordination and audits.

  • Hands-on experience processing payroll in ADP.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive human resources management experience required.
  • Prior payroll processing experience required.
  • Experience with manufacturing/production environments required, including OSHA safety compliance, workers' compensation administration, and managing an hourly workforce.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, talking on the phone, and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
COMPENSATION
Salary range: $75,000–$95,000 annually, commensurate with experience and certifications.
